Coach Kennedy teaches Student Ambassadors how to put on a life jacket
“The Student Ambassador Program is funded by a grant from the HRIF,” said Team Mom Juliana LoBiondo. “We teach children residing in the City of Newburgh ages 10 – 17 to swim, free of charge, in order to pass the US Rowing Swim Test, and then to row. It is by far the best program in Newburgh, in my opinion, all expenses for the kids are paid by grant and volunteer service. For each successful rower produced by this Program, which is about a 2 year cycle, the Newburgh Rowing Club makes about a $10,000.00 investment in goods, services, equipment and volunteer time. It is one of the things that makes the Newburgh Rowing Club a community organization, not just an athletic team with rowing programs. Newburgh Rowing believes passionately in giving back to the community and makin Newburgh a better place, one stroke at a time.”
